Unbottleneck is a Remote Staffing as a Service (RSaaS) platform specializing in connecting clients to a thoroughly vetted global network of highly skilled professionals who are hand-picked for their valuable industry-relevant experience.

We’re building a strong pipeline of eyecare professionals, including Medical Scribes, Medical Receptionists, Ophthalmic Assistants, and Optical Assistants. In these roles, you will serve as the patients' first point of contact and play a vital role in supporting the practice's daily operations by handling administrative tasks remotely, ensuring a smooth patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients over the phone and via email.
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Verify vision and medical insurance benefits for patients prior to appointments, including eligibility, co-pays, deductibles, and authorization requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies and third-party payers to resolve verification and billing issues.
  • Collect and input patient information accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and office policies.
  • Educate patients on insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and billing procedures.
  • Manage incoming calls, emails, and messages; triage inquiries and route them appropriately.
  • Support billing and collections teams by providing insurance data and verification records.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and courtesy at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years of experience in a medical receptionist or administrative role in an optometry, ophthalmology, or healthcare setting.
  • Proven experience with U.S. medical and vision insurance verification is a bonus, but not essential. 
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and practice management software (e.g., Crystal PM, RevolutionEHR, and OfficeMate is a plus).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced remote environment.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 codes, and basic billing terminology.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent WIFI (minimum 50 -100Mbps speed)
  • Own Laptop or desktop computer
  • External Monitor
  • Sufficient backup power supply for power outages
  • Good quality headset with a built-in microphone
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday (US Time Zones)
